University study measures Blackpool welcome

Academic assessment of resident led project

Month by month some residents of Blackpool have been putting on events for families seeking asylum and staying in a town centre hotel.

These families have escaped conflict and trauma from all over the world.  They may not know England or speak much English but Blackpool residents want to give them a warm welcome.

Residents have raised their own funds to put on monthly film nights, picnics and beach walks.

Partners at Lancaster University wanted to measure the difference this makes.

Here is their report.
